My wife definitely likes cats more than I do. Why? Because I can not stand the litter on my feet. When I reached my wits end, I saw a new litter box online and had some free time over a weekend. So I went to the hardware store and DIYed a pretty good version of the fancy store model. Not exaggerating here but this box stopped like 90–95% of the litter from leaving the box area. As stated, I built this a few years back. So I do not have the very exact plans I used to creat the original. It needs to be built around your current litter pan. Thus, it will be custom to each owner. When I used AI to help me revisit some plans and models, to share here free, AI suggested vent holes and a piano hinge. I used some old hinges I had laying around the garage and they proved to be too small. They were strained by the weight of the lid when I scooped the cats litter box out. So, I would suggest using AI’s idea for the hinges.
